Many people asked if the ISF couldn't do anything about the hunt of pink river dolphin, so I decided to translate my outburst so that everyone could understand what is happening to these beautiful and rare animals of the Amazon.
Indignation, sadness, pain, revolt impossible to describe everything I felt seeing the report displayed by the "Fantastic" on Sunday (07/20). An incredibly docile, important species in the rehabilitation of people and rare is threatened and can be FULLY EXTINCT within 15 years.
Fishermen of Amazon are hunting and killing the pink river dolphin, are more than a thousand deaths of dolphins a year and why? Hunger? Need? Don’t! The dolphins are being killed by the greed of human beings! His flesh and fat are used as bait for fishing piracatinga, the fish butcher of Amazon.
The AMPA (Association of Friends of the Manatee) monitors the region and managed to shocking images of hunting and killing these animals. For years, researchers have been studying the pink river dolphin, in five years its population has fallen by 50% only in the middle Solimões’ river region.
The images recorded by researchers from AMPA revolt and make us cry, pregnant females that are constantly sought by biologists hoping to see the harbor porpoise population grow back are killed. Yes, hunters kill pregnant females mercilessly and use their flesh and fetus to attract piracatingas.
In their defense the hunters say they need to do this at the time of the ban on fishing when they are forbidden to fish other fish, duh, but they can use other materials to fishing such piracatinga, carry out other activities, not to mention that they earn aid-closure of a the federal government minimum wage each month in the period in which fishing is prohibited.
I've lost everything, that have to control food and it never even stole 10 cents from someone, much less to kill defenseless animals out there and I've had no aid-closure of a minimum monthly salary from the government to help me.
When you want if finds a way. It turns out that not always the correct and honest way out is easier and faster and thus sufferers is the weakest.
The denunciations made not only by the "Fantastic", but in other ways made it finally published on Friday that the law prohibits hunting of piracatinga, but this law will enter into force from January 2015, more a thousand river dolphins can die until this law begins to count.
To us, remain oversee the work of the authorities, be alert to any news regarding river dolphins and disclose how rare and important this species is for humanity. Each one must and deserves to be respected, the pink river dolphin exists only in the Amazon and is threatened with extinction, we will not let another of our species get to the end.
Sorry for the vent, but I couldn’t stand!
Laura Böving Paiva.
