Much is said about "the trash in the trash," but little is done about it. The result? In the rainy season, floods caused by the accumulation of garbage in the streets. But where goes all this trash? This long period of drought that various parts of Brazil are spending shows a clear and sad way.
Salto, municipality of São Paulo who lives most drought in 70 years removed more than SEVEN tonnes of trash from the bottom of the Tietê River in 50 hours of service. Two tonnes of woods, plus plastic bottles and a huge amount of shoes, yes, shoes.

Cleanup crews used rappelling to realize that this was the biggest cleansing action of the Tietê River in 70 years. The woods are used for the manufacture of chairs for a company, but all other waste will be discarded because they are contaminated.
In Manaus, capital of Amazonas state, Rio Negro is also its lowest level than normal and, as the river goes down, the garbage will appear.

It is a carpet of garbage formed by bayous that run through the city, the City Hall of Manaus has spent over FIVE MILLION REAIS to remove FOUR tonnes of trash from the waters of the city. And still there is much to be collected. In some cities, the picture one gets is of a floating garbage dump.
Cases of acute diarrhea have increased almost 30% in 2014. And hepatitis A, 51% in comparison with the first half of last year. Any stumble, or contact with contaminated water is enough for the disease to appear.
The governments of cities are spending millions to remove trash from the rivers, the population is suffering with diseases, not to mention all the aquatic plants and animals that suffered and suffers from the wrong actions of the human being… How much money, how much life wasted by lazy, shame, self-indulgence.
It's something simple, so obvious, just throw the trash in its proper place. This is to take care of life, YOUR life, of OUR planet and OUR future. Think about it.
